In the bustling streets of India’s cities and the dusty roads of its rural heartland, a familiar name is making waves once again.
Bajaj Auto, the venerable two-wheeler manufacturer, has breathed new life into its iconic Discover lineup with the launch of the all-new 2025 model.
This latest iteration promises to redefine the commuter segment, blending efficiency, technology, and style in a package that’s set to turn heads and win hearts.
A Design That Speaks Volumes
Gone are the days when commuter motorcycles were purely utilitarian. The 2025 Discover sports a fresh, modern look that’s bound to appeal to a wide range of riders.
Its sleek lines and muscular stance give it a premium feel, while clever design elements pay homage to its commuter roots.
“We wanted to create a bike that people would be proud to ride, whether they’re commuting to work or heading out for a weekend trip,” says Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, at the launch event in Pune. “The new Discover is not just about getting from point A to B; it’s about enjoying the journey.”
The bike’s front end is dominated by a stylish LED headlamp with integrated DRLs, giving it a distinctive face that’s easily recognizable on the road.
The fuel tank has been sculpted to offer better ergonomics, with knee recesses that allow for a more comfortable riding position. At the rear, a sleek LED tail lamp completes the modern look.
Heart of Efficiency
Under its stylish exterior, the 2025 Discover packs a punch with its new range of engines. Bajaj is offering the bike in two variants: a 110cc model for those prioritizing fuel efficiency, and a more powerful 125cc version for riders who crave a bit more performance.
The 110cc engine, despite its modest displacement, has been tuned to deliver a respectable 8.6 bhp and 9.81 Nm of torque.
Its bigger 125cc sibling bumps those numbers up to 11.2 bhp and 11 Nm of torque. Both engines feature Bajaj’s latest DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark Ignition) technology, which promises improved combustion efficiency and lower emissions.
“Our engineers have worked tirelessly to squeeze every ounce of performance and efficiency from these engines,” explains Dr. Priya Sharma, Head of Powertrain Development at Bajaj.
“The result is a bike that’s not only peppy to ride but also incredibly fuel-efficient.”
Indeed, Bajaj claims class-leading fuel efficiency figures for both variants. The 110cc model boasts an impressive 85 kmpl under standard testing conditions, while the 125cc version isn’t far behind at 82 kmpl.
Ride Comfort and Handling
Recognizing that many Discover owners spend long hours in the saddle, Bajaj has paid special attention to ride comfort.
The bike features a new chassis design that offers improved rigidity and better handling characteristics.
Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The setup has been tuned to offer a plush ride over India’s often challenging road conditions, without compromising on handling dynamics.
“We’ve struck a balance between comfort and control,” says Amit Nandi, President of the Motorcycle Business at Bajaj Auto. “The new Discover feels planted on the highway and nimble in city traffic.”
Braking is taken care of by a 240mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear. The top-end variant also offers the option of a rear disc brake and single-channel ABS for added safety.
Tech-Savvy Commuter
In a segment where technological features are often an afterthought, the 2025 Discover stands out with its impressive array of tech.
The bike comes equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster that displays a wealth of information, including speed, fuel level, trip meters, and even real-time fuel efficiency data.
Bajaj has also introduced its new ‘iSmart’ connectivity system on the Discover.
This Bluetooth-enabled feature allows riders to connect their smartphones to the bike, enabling features like turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts, and even service reminders.
“Today’s riders expect their vehicles to be an extension of their digital lives,” says Sarang Kanade, President of Motorcycle Business at Bajaj Auto. “With iSmart, we’re bringing premium connectivity features to the commuter segment.”
Other notable tech features include:
- USB charging port for on-the-go device charging
- LED lighting all around for better visibility and lower power consumption
- Engine kill switch, a feature often missing in this segment
Safety First
In an era where road safety is paramount, Bajaj has ensured that the 2025 Discover is equipped with essential safety features.
The optional single-channel ABS provides added confidence during hard braking, especially in wet conditions.
The bike also features Bajaj’s new ‘ComforTec’ technology, which adjusts the engine’s power delivery based on riding conditions, ensuring smooth acceleration and better control in various situations.
Targeting a Diverse Audience
While the Discover has traditionally been positioned as a commuter motorcycle, Bajaj is casting a wider net with the 2025 model.
The company sees potential not just among urban commuters, but also among rural customers looking for a reliable, efficient, and stylish means of transportation.
“The new Discover is versatile enough to meet the needs of a wide range of customers,” explains Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director at Bajaj Auto.
“Whether you’re a college student, a working professional, or a small business owner in a tier-2 city, there’s a Discover variant that’s right for you.”
Bajaj is also targeting female riders with the new Discover, highlighting its easy maneuverability and comfortable ergonomics.
The company plans to run targeted marketing campaigns to appeal to this growing demographic of two-wheeler users.
Competitive Pricing and Market Positioning
In a price-sensitive market, Bajaj has managed to position the 2025 Discover competitively. The 110cc variant starts at ₹65,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the 125cc model begins at ₹72,000. The top-end 125cc variant with rear disc brake and single-channel ABS is priced at ₹78,000.
This pricing strategy puts the Discover in direct competition with popular models like the Honda Shine and the Hero Glamour. However, Bajaj is banking on the Discover’s fresh design, tech features, and brand equity to give it an edge in this crowded segment.
Production and Availability
Bajaj plans to manufacture the 2025 Discover at its state-of-the-art facility in Waluj, Maharashtra. The company has invested in new production lines and quality control measures to ensure that the bike meets the high standards expected by today’s consumers.
“We’re starting with a production capacity of 50,000 units per month,” reveals Kanade. “But we have the flexibility to scale up quickly if demand exceeds our projections.”
The 2025 Discover will be available across Bajaj’s extensive dealership network in India, with deliveries set to begin next month.
The company also has plans to export the bike to select international markets, particularly in South Asia and Africa, where the Discover brand already has a strong presence.
Looking Ahead
With the launch of the 2025 Discover, Bajaj has made a bold statement about the future of commuter motorcycles. By blending efficiency, technology, and style, the company has created a product that has the potential to appeal to a wide range of riders and breathe new life into the Discover brand.
As India’s two-wheeler market continues to evolve, with changing consumer preferences and increasing competition, the 2025 Discover seems well-positioned to make its mark.
It represents a significant step forward in the commuter segment, offering features and performance that were once the preserve of more premium motorcycles.
Only time will tell if the 2025 Discover will achieve the same iconic status as its predecessors. But one thing is certain – it has raised the bar for what consumers can expect from a commuter motorcycle.
As the launch event winds down and the gleaming new Discovers stand ready for their first test rides, there’s a palpable sense of excitement in the air. Bajaj has thrown down the gauntlet, and now it’s up to the Indian motorcycle market to respond.
